Siskiyou Mt. Wagon Road 2: Old Hwy. 99 above second railroad Bridge

Directions

Take Highway 66 from Ashland toward Klamath Falls and turn right onto Old Highway 99 (now Jackson County 273). Marker #2 is located 0.15 miles above the second bridge over the Southern Pacific tracks on the right side of Old Highway 99 as you travel toward the Siskiyou summit. It may be hidden in tall grass.

SISKIYOU MOUNTAIN WAGON ROAD

This toll road was constructed in 1858-1860 by the Thomas brothers.  It was owned and operated by Lindsay Applegate, 1860-1869, and James Thornton and Jesse Dollarhide.  It was replaced by the Pacific Highway in 1915                                                                                                                                S.O.H.S. – 1979
