Prescott-Knott Marker

Directions

The marker is located between two flag poles in front of the Ashland Police Station on East Main Street, between Mountain Avenue and Lincoln Streets.

This marker commemorates officers Sam Prescott and Victor Knott of the Ashland Police Force. They lost their lives in the line of duty in Ashland in 1931.

Sam Prescott was killed on January 24, 1931 on Siskiyou Boulevard, close to where the Safeway Market is located now. An article in the Table Rock Sentinel, volume 5, number 1, 1985, page 2 explains what happened. This is available on-line through the SOHS website.

Victor Knott was killed on or about November 19, 1931 while investigating suspicious activity near commercial buildings in the railroad district in Ashland. More information is available in the Table Rock Sentinel, Volume 7, Number 3, 1987, page 3. Check the Officer Down Memorial Page at odmp.org
