Britt Sequoia
Directions
The sequoia is in the Britt Gardens, in Jacksonville, which is open to the public. Parking is available in a variety of lots used for the Britt Concerts. The gardens are located to the west of the intersection of East California Street and South Oregon Street. Walking in the gardens, the sequoia is beside a section of path with a raised wooden walkway
This Giant Sequoia was planted by Peter Britt on March 22, 1862 to commemorate the birth of his son Emil on that day. The Oregon Heritage Tree sign notes that “Peter Britt was a pioneer photographer, skilled horticulturist and leader in Southern Oregon’s lucrative fruit industry”.
