McCall Magnolia

The McCall Magnolia is located in front of the McCall Bed and Breakfast at 153 Oak Street in Ashland.

According to the Oregon Heritage Tree program sign posted by the tree and information from the Oregon Heritage Tree website, this is a Southern magnolia planted in 1890 in memory of the death of Elsie McCall who died in 1890. Her parents were Captain John M. and Theresa Applegate McCall. John was involved in the opening of many Ashland businesses, including The Ashland Daily Tidings. Theresa died in 1875, and John married Mary Elizabeth “Lizzie” Anderson in 1876. Their ornate home is now a bed and breakfast. The home was built in1883.
