Coming from Jacksonville, the Old Stage Road makes a jog, first to the right and then to the left. The left turn is just before the Madrone Trail Public Charter School. From this turn, the marker is located 0.55 miles, on the right.
This marker was installed by Trails West, Inc. in 2017. It quotes an entry from Welborn Beesen’s diary commenting on life in Jacksonville in 1853.
