Winburn Way Bridge, Ashland

Directions

The bridge is on Winburn Way crossing Ashland Creek just as it exits from the plaza in Ashland.

This bridge was built in 1997 and dedicated in 1998. It replaced the previous bridge which caused the flooding of the Plaza on January 1, 1997. The previous bridge had a much smaller opening for Ashland Creek, and when the creek flooded, debris from the swollen creek blocked the bridge opening, creating a dam that diverted the water through the plaza, flooding the buildings along the creek. The new bridge hopefully has a wide enough opening to prevent this from happening in the future.
