Siskiyou Pass Monument
The monument can be reached from Ashland by driving south on Interstate 5, and taking the exit for the Mt. Ashland Ski Area. Take the old Highway 99 road toward the ski area, and turn right onto the Mt. Ashland Road, just before Highway 99 goes under the freeway. The monument is located approximately 1.2 miles up the Mt. Ashland Road from this point. It is just beyond the point at which the Colestin Road exits on the left. The marker is in a wide pullout on the right side of the Mt. Ashland Road.
We first saw this monument on July 25, 2017 while on a trip to the Mt. Ashland area to view wildflowers.
This monument was erected in 2016 by the E Clampus Vitus organization. Much if not all of the text was written by local historian Jeff LaLand. The 3 sides of the monument describe the historical relevance of the location.
