Old Stage Road Marker
Coming from Jacksonville, the Old Stage Road makes a jog, first to the right and then to the left. The left turn is just before the Madrone Trail Public Charter School. From this turn, the marker is located 0.55 miles, on the right.
This marker was installed in 1939 to mark the Old Stage Road out of Jacksonville. On our first visit, the plaque was missing, but the stone marker is clearly the one shown in the 1939 photo at SOHS. In the 1939 photo the plaque reads:
THE OLD STAGE ROAD
along this road passed the
early day travel of
OREGON
ERECTED BY
CRATER LAKE CHAPTER
DAUGHTERS OF THE AMERICAN
REVOLUTION
1939
On a later visit, the plaque had been replaced in 2018 by the Crater Lake Chapter of the DAR.
